School Colloquium——Quasiconformally tame Lakes of Wada

报告摘要: Classically Lakes of Wada refers to a construction of three domains in the plane (or 2-sphere) having the same boundary. Although, on the 2-sphere, the domains are homeomorphic to Euclidean disks, the inner geometry of these domains does not resemble the geometry of Euclidean disks. The situation changes in higher dimensions: we may take the domains in Lakes of Wada to be both quasiconformal to Euclidean balls and John domains. This is joint work with Jang-Mei Wu (University of Illinois).
报告人简介：Pekka Pankka received his PhD from the University of Helsinki in 2005, and is now a professor at the University of Helsinki and the President of Finnish Mathematical Society. His research interests include analysis of complex variables, metric geometry, geometric topology, and focus on quasiconformal mappings in particular. In these areas, he has produced more than 40 research articles, publishing on renowed journals including Annals of Mathematics, Acta Mathematica and Duke Mathematical Journal.
